On the night of Mr. Melvyn's murder, Tom Waits was sitting in the Lemon Flag, believing he was having a conversation with the long-dead Basquiat. He was eager to converse with the famed artist, and proudly bragged that he'd just managed to buy two very famous paintings real cheap.    In reality, Tom's massive intake of LSD had distorted his sense of reality, and even though Bones that night did bear a slight resemblance to Basquiat, this was the kind of thing that only happened when a man was high as a kite.
