Jones and his wife were deeply involved in a very heated argument.    He couldn't quite make out the details, but he overheard the word "taekwondo" a couple of times.    He was quite annoyed to be disturbed by the insistent ring of the phone - and even more so when he discovered that the caller was his down-and-out brother, Sorry Al, who needed some money because he'd lost his job at the Boom Boom Bar.    So he slammed the phone down, cutting off his brothers endless begging, and went off to meet Denny at the Lemon Flag.
