On the night of Mr. Melvyn's murder, Freddy Pom-Pom was driving around town looking for Monk. Along with his buddy Helmut, he'd just stolen some paintings that he needed to get off his hands fast.      Freddy was sure that Monk would know what do with them - and that Freddy's cut of the sale, even after the man who ordered them to steal the paintings would get his share, would be quite large.    He just hoped that he would be able to get the money in time for the fight - he'd gotten a hot tip from Harold which told him to bet all of his money on Tyson. And Harold was usually right about these things.
