On the night of Mr. Melvyn's murder, a painting by Egon Schiele was pilfered by Freddy Pom-Pom.    There was nothing really remarkable about that, apart from the fact that another painting, this one by Francis Bacon, was also stolen.     It was quite a daring raid, really.
