On the night of Mr. Melvyn's murder, Doctor Marble had driven by Maude's place, to see if she was in and whether she was willing. But the lights had been on, which was always a bad sign, and he could hear loud voices from the living room, so he decided to just go home.     Later on he was yelling at his wife because she'd been mugged and had lost the tickets for tonight's fight. He knew that the only person who could get him tickets at that time, was the jew Eckmann - and that Eckmann was sure to charge him at least triple the normal price.
